Welcome to Class 2

This is a busy term in Class 2. We are  looking forward to  exciting events with lots of creative, stimulating activites to enrich our  learning.

 

Our Learning

Creative 

             Great Fire of London 1666                                                           

The Great Fire of London

In this topic, children will be learning about the History of The Great Fire of London. The children will use Geography to interpret maps of London and Art when looking at how buildings, streets and systems have changed between now and then.

Children will take part in role-play, art, writing and researching to support learning.

 

English

The Dragon Machine (Book & CD) (Book & CD): Amazon.co.uk: Ward, Helen:  9781840119909: Books

We will be reading 'Dragon Machine'. The children will use this text and features learnt to plan, draft and write their own adventure story.

Science

Properties of materials – introduction — Science Learning Hub

In science we will be learning about materials. We will be working scientifucally to test the suitability of each material for its purpose. 

Maths

A new way of teaching maths in schools

In Maths we will be learning about money; recognising coind, making amounts, finding change etc. We will then be learning about multiplication and divison.  Children will use resources to aid their learning and be extended through varied fluency and reasoning and problem solving questions. 

The Way, the Truth and the Life

Is There Proof of Heaven?

Our Way Truth and Life topic is, 'The Good News'. 

  • . Have the opportunity to know that Jesus can turn sadness into joy.
  • Have the opportunity to know that we should always remember to thank Jesus for his help
  • Have an opportunity to know that Jesus used his power to help others. Reflect on the importance of these events.
  • Have an opportunity to know that Jesus brought the good news of God’s love. Reflect on what this means for us.

We will be learning in a variety of ways; art, drama, video, story and writing. 

P.E.

PE – Bank View High School

The children have PE every Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child comes into school wearing their kit. 

Homework

Every Monday spellings will be taught and then uploaded onto the website. Children will be tested every Friday.

MyMaths homework can be accessed every Thursday and is to be completed by the following Monday.

Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. However, please ensure that your child has their book in school every day. Please hear and read to your child  every day, encourage them to discuss the story  and characters.
