Our Learning


This half term our topic is "Forests". We are comparing  Delamre Forest with Daintree Rainforest in Queensland Australia. The children have an insight into a British forest after our residential trip to Delamere Forest. They discovered the trees and animals  that live there. We will comparing this with the  range of  trees and animals who make their home in Daintree Rainforest. Class 2 will be using maps and globes to locate the continents and oceans of the world. During inital research one Class2 girl discovered that Australia is the largest continent in the world and also an island!  In English, as part of The Primary Writing Project, we are looking at narrative, poetry and persuasive writing.  We will study the text "Where the Forest Meets the Sea". 


In Maths we are focusing on measurements, multiplication and division. We will be   learning 2,5,10 times tables and corresponding division facts. We will be investagating length using metres and centimetresand capacity (litres & mililitres)  We will be exploring flunency and reasoning to explain how we came to our answers.

The Way, the Truth and the Life

Our Way Truth and Life topic is "The Church is Born".  We will have the opportunity to know  that when the apostles received the Holy Spirit they spread the Good News.We will be learn about the early Christian community and understand that we are part of it today.   We will know  that  the  apostles realsied that God could work through them. Consecration the bread and wine are changed into Jesus. We will use special words to describe the roles people have in the Church.


The children have PE every Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has their kit in school and that it is clearly labelled.


Every Monday, spelling books will be sent home with words that your child will be learning that week in phonics. Please encourage your child to practice these words and apply them in their writing.

Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday, however, please ensure that your child has their book in school every day. Please hear and read to your child  every day, encourage them to discuss the story  and characters  in the book.

Homework will be sent home every Thursday and will alternate between Maths and English. This should be brought back into school the following Monday.

We are coming to the end of our time in Class 2 and we are  looking forward to an exciting end of term and preparing for KS2.
