Class 4 2018 - 2019

Welcome to Class 4

Teacher: Mrs Fairman

Our Learning

In Class 4, we are learning lots of interesting and exciting things. Our topic for the Summer Term is Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We will be exploring why they invaded Britain, democracy within these times and why they settled in specific places. We will be linking this topic with our creative subjects too to develop our creative skills.

Our R.E topic for this half term is Mission of the Church. The children will look at the events that happened after the resurrection of Jesus, how and why Peter became the head of the church and explore the symbols of Pentecost. Through daily collective workship sessions, we will be exploring the teachings of Jesus further and discussing how we can help to ensure that the mission given to the followers of Jesus, can be continued.

PE

Full PE kits, which are clearly labeled with the child's name, should be in school each day. This includes trainers and pumps so that suitable footwear is available for the activity they will be participating in. Spare socks are also a good idea to have in the PE bag. All jewellery must be removed and long hair should be tied back.

Homework

Maths and English homework is given out every Thursday and must be returned by the following Monday.

Spellings will be given out on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday.

Useful websites to support home learning:

We encourage all pupils to access these websites on a weekly basis to improve their learning.

Reading is an important focus within our school and children are encouraged to read as much as possible at home. This includes their school reading book and other genres of writing to expand their knowledge of different types of texts.

Worries/ Concerns

Should you have any worries or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me. This can be done by speaking with me at the end of the day or by making an appointment through the office.
