Class 4 2018 - 2019

Welcome to Class 4

Teacher: Mrs Fairman

Our Learning

In Class 4, we are learning lots of interesting and exciting things. Our topic for the Spring Term is 'Disasters'. We will be investigating our key question 'Was it a disaster that the Romans invaded?' with a historical focus on the Romans as well as developing geographical skills based on natural disasters. We will also continue to develop a variety of skills throughout our creative curriculum subjects.

Our R.E topic for this half term is Jesus, the Teacher. In this topic the children will learn that Jesus was a teacher who came to show us how to live. They will explore Jesus’ early life and learn about his presentation at the temple. The children will learn that Jesus used parables in his teaching and reflect on the meaning of the Parable of the Sower and Unforgiving Servant.

PE

Full PE kits, which are clearly labeled with the child's name, should be in school each day. This includes trainers and pumps so that suitable footwear is available for the activity they will be participating in. Spare socks are also a good idea to have in the PE bag. All jewellery must be removed and long hair should be tied back.

Homework

Maths and English homework is given out every Thursday and must be returned by the following Monday.

Spellings will be given out on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday.

Useful websites to support home learning:

We encourage all pupils to access these websites on a weekly basis to improve their learning.

Reading is an important focus within our school and children are encouraged to read as much as possible at home. This includes their school reading book and other genres of writing to expand their knowledge of different types of texts.

Worries/ Concerns

Should you have any worries or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me. This can be done by speaking with me at the end of the day or by making an appointment through the office.
