Our Learning

In Class 4, we are learning lots of interesting and exciting things. Our topic for the Autumn Term is called 'The Greatest Show'. We will be exploring the greatest geographical features of the world with a focus on Africa. This links in with our wonderful English topic based on the text 'Gorilla' by Anthony Browne. Throughout the term, we will explore our topic through engaging and creative lessons.

Black History Month

As October is Black History Month, we will be reading the book called 'Hidden Figures: The True Story of Four Black Women and the Space Race'. It tells the story of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden as they helped with NASA's great successes. We will use the book as a base for discussion and use the story to inspire our own writing.

The Way, The Truth and The Life

Our R.E topic for this half term is The Bible. We are learning all about the different parts of the Bible, what the Bible means to Christians and exploring stories from the Old Testament.

PE

Full PE kits, which are clearly labeled with the child's name, should be in school each day. This includes trainers and pumps so that suitable footwear is available for the activity they will be participating in. Spare socks are also a good idea to have in the PE bag. All jewellery must be removed and long hair should be tied back.

Homework

Useful websites to support home learning:

We encourage all pupils to access these websites on a weekly basis to improve their learning.

Reading is an important focus within our school and children are encouraged to read as much as possible at home. This includes their school reading book and other genres of writing to expand their knowledge of different types of texts.
