What to do if:

You would like to apply for a place at our school

Please look at the Our School tab for our Admission Policy, this will advise you on the criteria that we look at when accepting places at our school.  If you are applying for a place for our Reception Class for the next academic year or you would like to make a mid year application please visit the Cheshire West and Chester Council Website (http://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/) and apply in School Admissions.  With mid-year applications, we receive notification that you have applied for a place and you will hear from us within 10 working days advising you if you have successfully received a place or not.

Your child will be late for school

If you think your child will be late to school due to a doctors appointment or other unforeseen circumstance, please phone the school office (01244 981290) and leave a message on the absence line and bring your child to school as soon as possible. If you arrive after 9.00am your child will need to be signed in via the school office in order to amend the register. Persistent lateness not only puts your child at a disadvantage educationally but also disrupts the education of other children in the class. Parents will be notified if this becomes a concern.

You expect to be late collecting your child

We understand that there may be an occasion where you are unable to collect your child from school in time and we ask for a telephone call to advise us as soon as possible. KS1 children will not be allowed to leave school alone and KS2 children are expected to return to their teacher or the school office if their parent's have not turned up. Children can then wait in the school entrance for parents to arrive. If you are regularly unable to collect in time or are going to be significantly late we ask that you book your child in to Link Club.

You have an exceptional circumstance that requires your child to be absent from school

A Leave of absence request form must be submitted in to school prior to the absence. The completed form will be considered and a slip returned home with your child advising if the absence has been authorised or not. Under normal circumstances, you should not expect the school to agree to your child going on holiday during term time.

Your child is unwell

Please phone the school office (01244 981290) leaving a message on the absence line advising about your child's illness before 9.15am. If we haven't heard from you and your child is absent the school office will contact you during the morning to enquire about your child's absence from school.

Your child requires medicine during the school day

A 'Request for the school to give medication' form must be completed if your child will be bringing medicine to school for staff to administer. All medicine should be labeled clearly with your child's name, class, dosage and time medication is to be given. We are not allowed to give medicine to children if we do not have the fully completed form. A form can be collected from the school office or click on the attachment below to download and complete at home. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept emailed forms as a signature is required.

Your child has headlice/threadworm

Don't despair c'est la vie! Please let the school office know so that we can mention it in a newsletter for parents to be vigilant.

If your child has headlice you can either use a lotion from the chemist or comb through routinely with conditioner and a special fine toothed comb. Below are the attachments for more details on Headlice. Threadworm are surprisingly common in young children. They look like short threads of white cotton and cause excessive itching around the back passage and surrounding skin. The doctor can prescribe medicine to get rid of them but the whole family should be treated at the same time to prevent re-infection. Please see below for more advice on Threadworm.

Your child has lost something at school

We have a lost property basket situated in the school hall. Items may also be left in the classroom. The easiest way for items to be returned to the correct person is to have them labeled in an obvious place. If you are still unable to find it please advise your child's teacher who can help to keep a look out for you. For smaller items like glasses, jewellery etc. please ask Miss Singer in the admin office.

Would you like to become a 'parent helper'?

That's great, please contact us to advise what sort of help you're able to offer. Attached below is a 'Parent Helper Volunteer' form, complete and return it to school via your child's class teacher or email the school office: admin@stlukes.cheshire.sch.uk

Making payments to school

We are now a cashless school therefore cash/cheque payments cannot be accepted.  The majority of people are able to shop online and this method is the most effective and convenient.  If you do not have a bank account please speak to Mrs Atkin (School Bursar) to make an alternative arrangement.  Each child will have an online payment account where parents can log in and pay online through the link on our Home page "Cash Office".  School pays all transaction charges that occur with paying by card, therefore could we ask that payments are grouped together in lump sums where possible to minimise costs to the school.  For siblings the accounts should be linked so that a parent only logs in once and has the ability to update all of their children's accounts at the same time.  If you have any trouble with the system please speak to the office staff.

Your child requires uniform

Orders for uniform can be placed via the link on the Home page. Please note ordering this way means that you pay online for the order and it is delivered direct to your door.

Special Needs and Disabilities - At St Luke's, we provide fully for pupils with a range of special educational needs, ensuring that we have the correct resources and accessibility for any child with additional needs or disabilities. We aim to promote early identification of children with any learning difficulties and provide appropriate support to enable them to reach their potential. An individual Educational Programme may be provided, setting targets for their learning. Parents are kept fully informed and advice and guidance is sort from outside agencies where necessary.

The school has a disabled parking space and is a one story building so is very accessible all round.  On doors where there is a step to enter the building we have either fixed or movable ramps for all doors.

School Trips

There may be school trips or visiting organisations that come into the school to perform for the children. All trips and events are organised to provide not only fun for the children but also to inform and educate them on different subjects. We do recognise that all trips and events are a voluntary contribution but unfortunately if people do not contribute then future visits may have to be cancelled. You can make payment online via the link on our Home page "Cash Office".

You can download additional information and forms from the files below.
