Headteacher's weekly update

Thursday 14th November 2019

Last Sunday it was a privilege to join many of our pupils representing groups such as the Cubs, Scouts and Brownies, at St Laurence’s Church, to take part in the service of Remembrance. One of our Year 4 pupils laid a wreath on behalf of our school.

As Monday was Armistice Day, we took time out of our day to pay respect and to reflect.  Children from each class placed a poppy around our school display, listened to readings and poetry and took part in a two minutes silence.  We concluded our reflection with prayers for peace.

We have also been taking an active part in Anti- Bullying week.  Children came to school with odd socks to symbolise all our differences and that it is important that we show respect to one another. During the assembly, we introduced this year’s official song; I have challenged each class to know all the words by Friday to be able to sing together at Friday’s celebration assembly.  As its theme is linked to Strictly Come Dancing, they will hopefully show a few moves too.

We are now looking ahead and quickly approaching the Christmas season.  As in the past, we are looking for volunteers to help firstly with decorating our Christmas float for the Festival.  If you are able to offer support on the day (Saturday 30th November) or ahead of time, please contact the school office if you are able to offer you support.  Volunteers are also welcome for our Christmas Dinner day; this will take place on Wednesday 18th December.

There are many other events during the coming weeks, please make sure you have all dates booked on your calendar.  Next week we will have the first parent meeting for those children who wish to take part in this year’s sacramental programme.  It will take place here in the school hall at 6.30 pm.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend.
